Wheel-end parts are engineered for a specified service life, but the realities of heavy-duty trucking often cut that life short. Premature replacement costs fleets real money in parts, labor, downtime, and lost productivity.

Getting more life out of the wheel-end is not about making parts stronger - bearings, seals, and lubricants are already highly engineered. It's about getting the full duty-cycle out of the parts you already paid for.

The next great advancement in wheel-end parts comes by controlling the environment they operate in. This is called the Controlled Operating Environment™ - our approach to helping wheel-end components reach their intended service life.

Prevention Is Not Enough

Modern wheel-end parts are designed with contamination prevention in mind. Hub caps have unique vent plugs, seals come with dirt exclusion lips, even TMC's RPs emphasize preventing intrusion of dirt, water, and debris.

But prevention alone cannot account for everything that happens inside a working wheel-end. Heat, pressure changes, vibration, road spray, service exposure, and normal wear still introduce or generate abrasive particles inside the hub. Once those particles are in the lubricant, they circulate through the system and accelerate wear.

Controlled Operating Environment (COE) is built to address that gap. Not only should we keep contamination out, but we should also capture any abrasive particles that manage to find their way in, before they continue damaging bearings, seals, and lubricant.

COE is built on a core concept: control the environment, control the outcome. This manifests in the design of our products focused on capturing contamination within the wheel hub.

Together, these patent-pending technologies help remove harmful debris from the lubricant to stop its continued circulation through the hub, reducing the abrasive conditions that accelerate wear and rob you of mileage you already paid for.

The Xtractor® Hub Cap

The Xtractor is a new category of active hub cap with integrated multi-stage filtration inside a front-serviceable cartridge. The filter traps both ferrous and non-ferrous particles using high powered magnets and multiple layers of filter mesh.

VYTOR™ XTREME DUTY SEAL

Vytor is a new category of wheel seal with a filter integrated into its unitized structure. The VXR™ Filter uses a multi-layered mesh gate system to trap abrasive particles at the back side of the hub, keeping abrasive particles out of bearings.
